My Story

A Journey of Growth and Determination

Born with mild autism, my early development was slower than most—I spoke in parroted phrases and found joy in endlessly spinning without getting dizzy. Kindergarten was challenging as I struggled to stay still in class, which led me to start sensory integration therapy—a turning point that helped me focus and better navigate the world around me.

My school journey wasn’t easy. I faced bullying in first grade at Dongmen Elementary, but a transfer to Sanxing Elementary, thanks to a kind teacher’s recommendation, set me on a better path. After graduating from vocational high school, I entered the workforce, taking on various roles in supermarkets, car washes, and cleaning companies.

In 2004, a new passion ignited when I joined Teacher Chen’s art class. Over the years, art became a source of strength and expression for me. Seeing my autistic classmates pursue university degrees inspired me to aim higher. With Teacher Chen’s unwavering support, I leaped and enrolled at Chinese Culture University.

I’m proud to say that I recently graduated, having immersed myself in courses ranging from international multiculturalism and world civilizations to business management, computer graphics, and Japanese. My university experience was about more than academics—it taught me to think independently and solve problems on my own. Now, I’m setting my sights on a master’s degree and achieving the goal of living independently.
